How Paving Is Different in Florida
Lakeland, FL is a wonderful place to live and work, and if you’ve moved here from somewhere else, you’ve likely noticed that things in Florida are a tad different. Paving is one of those things. Every area has its challenges and advantages when it comes to providing hard surfaces on which to drive and walk.

One of the advantages of paving in Florida is that we rarely have to concern ourselves with cold-weather paving techniques. While we do experience some temps below 32°F during the winter months, we don’t experience extended freezes. On the contrary, we do experience some pretty uncomfortable heat in the summer, and that can make for tough conditions when paving. With average highs in the 90’s and occasional jumps into the 100’s, we must take steps to keep from getting heat stroke when doing paving. At AAA Top Quality Asphalt, we always take the weather into consideration when paving, so we can be sure we achieve the right asphalt mix for all project conditions.

Another challenge in Florida is the composition of our soil. We have very sandy soil, which means we must implement paving techniques that are different than what is needed with other types of soil. It also means water management is different. It takes experience with Florida paving to get a lasting result.

For over a decade, we have been involved in paving, asphalt repairs and preventative maintenance. We’ve worked with homeowners, business owners and the Florida DOT. We take great pride in our craftsmanship and how we have tailored it to meet the challenges of our Florida environment.
