AAA Top Quality Asphalt was selected to perform major parking lot improvements for the Polk County School Board at the Bill Duncan Opportunity Center, Ridge Vo-Tech, and Travis Vo-Tech facilities in Winter Haven, Florida.
The project was strategically scheduled during the summer break while school was out of session, giving AAA Top Quality Asphalt a limited but uninterrupted window to complete the work while minimizing disruption to students, faculty, and school operations.
AAA successfully coordinated and self-performed all phases of the project, including milling, asphalt paving, sealcoating, and pavement marking. Through experienced crews, dedicated equipment, and careful production planning, AAA was able to complete the entire project in just six days.
LARGE-SCALE MILL & PAVE OPERATION
At the Bill Duncan Opportunity Center and Ridge Vo-Tech, AAA milled and repaved approximately 13,277 square yards of existing parking lot.
The paving operation consisted of approximately 1,500 tons of SP 12.5 asphalt, installed at a 2-inch finished depth in one lift. AAA’s production capabilities allowed the entire parking lot to be milled in one day, followed by approximately 1½ days of paving.
Once the asphalt work was completed, AAA returned the parking areas to service with complete pavement marking and striping, matching the existing parking configuration.
TRAVIS VO-TECH SEALCOATING & RESTRIPING
At Travis Vo-Tech, AAA performed sealcoating and pavement marking improvements on approximately 96,563 square feet, or 10,729 square yards, of parking area.
Approximately 1,287 gallons of sealer were applied to restore and protect the existing asphalt surface. The parking lot was then completely restriped to match the existing layout, providing a clean, finished appearance for the facility.
SELF-PERFORMED FROM START TO FINISH
A major advantage of this project was AAA Top Quality Asphalt’s ability to self-perform the entire scope of work.

SIX-DAY ACCELERATED SCHEDULE
The project’s summer schedule required careful planning and efficient execution. AAA organized the work so that multiple operations could be completed consecutively without unnecessary downtime.

Day 1 – Milling
Approximately 13,277 square yards of existing asphalt was milled in a single day.
Days 2–3 – Asphalt Paving
Approximately 1,500 tons of SP 12.5 asphalt was placed at a 2-inch depth, with paving completed in approximately 1½ days.
Days 4–5 – Sealcoating
Approximately 1,287 gallons of sealer were applied at Travis Vo-Tech.
Days 5–6 – Pavement Markings
Parking lots were completely restriped and painted to match the existing configuration.
PROJECT RESULTS
AAA Top Quality Asphalt successfully completed the combined parking lot improvements at three Polk County School Board facilities within a six-day summer construction window.
The ability to perform the entire project with AAA’s own crews and equipment allowed the company to move quickly from one phase to the next and maximize the limited time available while school was out of session.
