There are a few different methods we can use to accomplish an asphalt paving job. If you already have asphalt that has some minor surface imperfections but has a sublayer that is in good condition, we can do what’s called an asphalt overlay. During that process, we thoroughly clean the existing asphalt, spray it with a tack coat that will help the new asphalt bond to it, and then use our paving machine to lay the new material.
If the new asphalt layer is higher than the transitions, gutters, or tie-ins, or if the sublayer is in bad condition and cannot support an additional layer of asphalt, we’ll perform a milling service first. Using specialized machines with teeth that can grind up the existing asphalt, we’ll mill the old material, take any steps needed to stabilize the foundation, and then proceed with the asphalt paving process.
